George L. Tanty
Professional Biography
George Tanty has been a specialty insurance underwriter since 1971. In 1975, he joined AVRECO, Inc., a Chicago-based excess and surplus lines insurance broker. In that same year, an insurance consultant, Mr. Stanley Brock who represented the Central Station Electro-Protective Association (CSEPA), contacted AVRECO. Mr. Brock asked their assistance in creating an insurance program for this group.
Together, AVRECO, CSEPA and Mr. Brock studied the alarm industry, held extensive "brain storming" sessions and set about to create an insurance program to address the unique needs of the alarm industry. Utilizing ISO policy language, they wrote, from scratch, a policy to provide the first true comprehensive alarm professional liability program.
Since 1975, Mr. Tanty has held a variety of positions in the insurance industry and has experience in brokerage, reinsurance treaty management, and special risk underwriting. However, he has devoted much of his professional career to underwriting and consulting with the burglar and fire alarm industry. He has been retained as an expert witness by the defense in litigation involving alarm companies and is a regular contributor of articles for several alarm industry periodicals. He also conducts insurance and contract workshops at state alarm associations and national trade group meetings.
In 1997, Mr. Tanty formed Tanty Risk Management Services, Inc. (TRMS). This company is totally dedicated to providing the underwriting expertise, risk management advice and contract negotiation which the burglar and fire alarm industry has relied on for since 1975. He works with local agents throughout the United States to offer this program to those alarm companies who are able to meet his underwriting criteria.
George is President and CEO of Tanty Risk Management Services. His primary areas of activity are underwriting and consulting.
